A number of our staff wanted to sing you a Christmas tune, so here they are signing Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree!
Christmas is a special time of year that bring people together. Recently, our friends at EFC and LFC came together to give our children and young people, their families and our staff a day they will never forget. Here’s what happened…
We’ve been hearing some reports of naughty elves in Alder Hey throughout December, but we’ve finally caught them on camera! See what they have been up to in the video above.
10-year-old Freddie, a big Liverpool Football Club fan, has been at Alder Hey for nine months after he was diagnosed with Wilms Tumour.
During that time, he has gone through chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery but recently had the all-clear from his scans!
His mum was told by Alder Hey that he had the all-clear on the phone, whilst watching Freddie in his school panto!
Above you can see him ringing his end-of-treatment bell. Enjoy Christmas at home, Freddie!
Rebecca, one of the members of our Alder Hey Youth Forum, wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas this year with a beautiful song!
A HUGE thank you to the wonderful Positive Pathways NW for coming in recently and helping us to create a Christmas atmosphere in our hospital atrium!
Operation Ouch star Dr Xand has recorded this special message to say thank you to all the staff working at Alder Hey this Christmas, as well as a special shout out to our patients!
This is Harvey and Ramesh! Ramesh is one of our Consultant Cardiac Surgeons and has helped mend many hearts over the past year. One patient he has helped along the way is Harvey, who has now even become an Alder Hey Children’s Charity ambassador!
Harvey had two ASD holes in his heart, which required a 7.5-hour open heart operation by Ramesh and his team to repair. Since his operation, Harvey has gone on to raise over £11,000 for our charity.
Here is Harvey ‘awarding’ Ramesh with a Christmas Star award!
During the pandemic, Alder Hey treated adult patients with severe COVID-19 to help overwhelmed colleagues in the NHS. This is the emotional story of one of those patients, Kevin Clayton, and his reunion with the staff members who treated him.
